Lessons

When we first meet, I will need to check your provisional license and ask you to read a number plate to check your eye sight (Remember it is an offence to drive with uncorrected defective vision).

If you already have some driving experience then the first lesson will be along the lines of an assessment lesson, where I can get an idea of the standard that you have already reached.

If you are a complete novice then our first lesson will be on a quiet road fairly close to your location, where we will go over the cockpit drill (the routine that you should follow every time you enter the vehicle to ensure that it is safe and secure and to make sure that you are seated correctly and that your mirrors are adjusted properly). We will then go over all of the controls needed to move off safely and following a briefing on M.S.M (Mirrors, Signal, Manoeuvre), blind spots and moving off and stopping we shall then practice actually moving the car away from the side of the road and stopping safely.

My lessons are based on a pupil track record. The track record is a guide for me to show what we have covered and at what level you have reached.

I like to be flexible in my approach to teaching. What suits one pupil doesn’t suit another, so, I’ll use whatever teaching aids necessary from diagrams, books, photographs, model cars and if required a practical demonstration.

I want the learning experience to be as enjoyable as possible – I’ll even let you bring your own music for the car if it helps, but remember our goal is to learn to drive safely.
